Whether you live in Door County full time or are just visiting us, the first location option you have is your own place! The best photos happen at places you know and love. Nothing beats sentimental value. Not having to travel is a big plus, especially if you have small children. You won’t have to deal with an audience of onlookers. It’s pet friendly! There’s always a bathroom available and a place to change. You can do whatever you want! It’s easy to capture candid and more intimate moments.
If you are booking an in-home session, here are a few tips:
Pay attention to the light in your home right after booking, that way we can find the best time of day to shoot.
Have your house cleaned. This may seem a little daunting, but it will be less chaotic if your whole house is at least tidied, and that also means that there won’t be piles of laundry in the background…
If you have kids: Make sure your kids know well ahead of time that this is happening. Even letting them lead me through their house and showing me their favourite spots helps them feel in control and like they aren’t being forced into pictures.
